TITLE: ACOUSTIC MINE
In naval mine warfare, a mine with an acoustic circuit which responds to
the acoustic field of a ship or sweep. Acoustic mines are programmed to
recognize typical noise frequencies and patterns generated by ships and
to ignore other underwater sounds (e.g., those generated by marine
life). Acoustic mines can also let a preset number of ships pass by
before detonating.
