TITLE: AIR SUPERIORITY

Air superiority refers to the dominance of 1 force over another in an airbattle or the perception of dominance in combat planning. Air superiority allows the dominating power to conduct land, sea, and air operations at a given time and place without prohibitive interference by the opposing force.

The perception of air superiority led the Israeli Defense Forces to ignore the possibility of the surprise (and initially successful) invasion by Arab forces in 1973.
