TITLE: ALARM
The British ALARM (Air-Launched Anti-Radiation Missile) is planned to
equip several British attack aircraft. It has a programmable, passive
radar seeker that covers a wide range of frequency bands. It is designed
to attack pre-designated radar emitters or to loiter in a slow descent
until it detects a radar. Initial operational capability originally
planned for 1987; motor problems have caused at least a year's delay.
Prime contractor is British Aerospace, Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
